Helping people in LA overcome homelessness.
Union Rescue Mission has served people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles for 135 years, and is one of the largest providers of emergency shelter, meals, and recovery services in the city.
Beyond a bed and a meal, URM runs a full continuum of care — family shelter, a residential recovery program, job training, education, and medical and dental clinics — aimed at helping people move all the way from the street into stable, permanent housing.
A single night indoors matters, but URM's stated goal is "the way home" — getting someone not just off the street, but into housing they can keep. That means pairing shelter with case management, mental health support, and job placement from day one.
URM also runs Hope Gardens Family Center, a dedicated campus for women and children fleeing domestic violence or homelessness, separate from its downtown Skid Row facility.
URM holds a perfect 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and Platinum Transparency status from Candid, and it publishes its outcomes publicly rather than only in appeal letters.
Their most recent impact report cites over 685,000 meals served and roughly 400 families moved into permanent housing in a single year.
Your gift can provide a meal, a night of safe shelter, or help a family stay together while they get back on their feet.
